Some weddings are not defined by grandeur.
They are defined by atmosphere.
Manuel and Valentina’s wedding in Verona was intimate, personal and beautifully intentional — a celebration shaped around meaningful places, refined choices and a very precise visual identity.
Their ceremony took place at Juliet’s Tomb, one of the most symbolic locations in Verona. But the heart of the photographic story unfolded at Byblos Art Hotel Villa Amistà, a place where Venetian elegance, contemporary art and editorial tension meet in a way that feels entirely unique.
For their wedding portraits, Manuel and Valentina were not looking for the most expected views of the city.
Not Ponte Pietra.
Not Piazza Bra.
Not Castelvecchio.
Beautiful places, of course.
But not quite theirs.
They wanted something more distinctive. A location with personality, contrast and refinement.
A place that could reflect the intimate yet sophisticated nature of their wedding.
Byblos Art Hotel Villa Amistà became exactly that.
An Intimate Wedding in Verona
An intimate wedding is not simply a smaller version of a traditional celebration.
It is a different way of choosing what matters.
In recent years, the word elopement has often been used to describe weddings with only a few carefully selected guests. Sometimes it means travelling far from home for a destination wedding. Sometimes it means celebrating in secret, away from expectation and tradition.
But today, an intimate wedding can be much more nuanced.
It can be minimal and private.
Or it can be refined, curated and deeply personal.
For Manuel and Valentina, intimacy did not mean giving up elegance. It meant giving more attention to every choice: the ceremony, the people present, the atmosphere, the locations and the time dedicated to photography.
Their wedding was quiet, but never ordinary.
Essential, but never simple.
It was a celebration designed around presence rather than performance.
Ceremony at Juliet’s Tomb
Valentina and Manuel chose to celebrate their civil ceremony at Juliet’s Tomb, one of Verona’s most evocative places.
A setting suspended between literature, memory and legend — closely connected to the story of Juliet, the young Capulet whose name has become inseparable from the city itself.
The ceremony was simple, intimate and profoundly felt.
There was no excess.
No unnecessary spectacle.
Only the couple, their closest people, and the emotional weight of the moment.
The speeches from their witnesses brought emotion not only to the families, but also to me.
This is one of the quiet privileges of being a wedding photographer. Beyond documenting beauty, joy and celebration, I am allowed to stand close to moments of vulnerability.
The trembling voices.
The pauses between words.
The glances exchanged by families.
The small gestures that reveal more than anything staged ever could.
In an intimate wedding, every emotion has more space.
There is no crowd to disappear into.
Every look matters.
Every word becomes part of the story.
Wedding Portraits at Byblos Art Hotel Villa Amistà
After the ceremony, the visual tone of the day shifted.
For their portraits, Manuel and Valentina wanted a location that felt refined, unconventional and deeply personal.
When I suggested Byblos Art Hotel Villa Amistà, their eyes lit up.
It was immediately clear that this was the right place.
A Byblos Art Hotel Villa Amistà wedding is never only about the beauty of the venue. It is about entering a very specific visual world.
The villa is not a neutral background.
It has character.
It has tension.
It has a point of view.
Set just outside Verona, Byblos Art Hotel Villa Amistà combines the elegance of a Venetian villa with a bold contemporary art collection. The result is a rare balance between classical architecture and modern expression.
At times surprising.
At times almost theatrical.
Always unforgettable.
For wedding photography, this kind of place requires attention and restraint.
You cannot simply place a couple in front of beauty and expect the image to work.
The architecture, the artworks, the colours, the furniture and the light all need to be composed carefully, so the couple remains at the centre of the image without losing the atmosphere around them.
With Manuel and Valentina, everything came together naturally.
Their elegance matched the space.
Their presence gave meaning to the setting.
Inside Byblos Art Hotel Villa Amistà
For the first part of the portrait session, we chose the central salon of Byblos Art Hotel Villa Amistà.
The room is shaped by the creative vision of Alessandro Mendini — a space where curves, colour, design and classical proportions coexist in a way that feels both refined and unexpected.
There are echoes of the eighteenth century.
There are contemporary artworks.
There are design armchairs, decorative details and visual contrasts that could easily overwhelm the scene.
But when used with intention, they create something extraordinary.
A wedding portrait inside Byblos Art Hotel Villa Amistà does not need to imitate tradition.
It can feel editorial.
Cultured.
Slightly cinematic.
Works by artists such as Marina Abramović, Vanessa Beecroft, Peter Halley and many others contribute to the atmosphere of the villa, turning each room into a conversation between past and present.
Above everything, the Venetian crystal chandelier dominates the space.
Imposing.
Luminous.
Almost hypnotic.
For Manuel and Valentina, this room became the perfect introduction to the visual language of their wedding portraits.
Elegant, but not obvious.
Refined, but with personality.
Editorial, but still deeply connected to who they were.
The Italian Garden of Villa Amistà
For the second part of the portrait session, we moved outside into the Italian garden of Villa Amistà, designed by Gianfranco Paghera.
After the intensity of the interiors, the garden brought air, softness and movement.
The atmosphere changed completely.
The strong visual rhythm of the rooms gave way to flowers, greenery, natural light and architectural balance.
Photographically, it was exactly what the story needed.
Manuel and Valentina looked as if they had stepped into an editorial spread. Valentina, beautiful in her Elisabetta Franchi dress, moved through the garden with an elegance that felt completely natural.
Nothing was forced.
Nothing felt over-directed.
The garden allowed the portraits to breathe.
One of the best choices they made was allowing time for the session to unfold without pressure. This is especially important in a place like Byblos Art Hotel Villa Amistà, where the interiors, gardens and atmosphere offer so many visual possibilities.
Time changes everything.
It allows the couple to relax.
It allows the light to shift.
It allows the photographer to move beyond the expected image.
For wedding photography, especially in an intimate celebration, portraits are not just a formal pause between ceremony and reception.
They become part of the experience.
A private chapter.
A moment of stillness.
A space where the couple can inhabit the beauty of the day without rushing through it.
Why Byblos Art Hotel Villa Amistà Is Such a Unique Wedding Location
Byblos Art Hotel Villa Amistà is not a conventional wedding venue.
And that is exactly its strength.
It is not made for couples looking for something predictable. It is made for those who are drawn to art, contrast, design and atmosphere.
A wedding at Byblos Art Hotel Villa Amistà has a very specific identity.
It can feel elegant without becoming classic.
Bold without becoming excessive.
Editorial without losing intimacy.
The villa offers a rare combination: historic architecture, contemporary art, refined interiors and gardens that soften the entire experience.
This makes it especially interesting for couples who want their wedding photography to feel different from the usual visual language of Verona.
Not only romantic.
Not only beautiful.
But personal, sophisticated and visually memorable.
For Manuel and Valentina, this was the perfect choice.
Their wedding was intimate, but the imagery had depth.
It was quiet, but never anonymous.
It was refined, but never distant.
